Tip #1
Utilize all the space in your unit. Make a plan ahead of time of how you are going to
arrange your items, which could save you the time rearranging it later. If feasible
create a center aisle for access to all items.

Tip #2
Consider storing humidity sensitive items like photographs and antiques in a climate
controlled storage unit.

Tip #3
Do not assume that your homeowners or renters insurance will cover your belongings
while in storage. Call you Agent. We encourage you to buy insurance.

Tip #4
Always use high quality locks on your unit, which we have for sale in our office.

Tip #5
The gate code should only be given to people you know well, and trust.

Tip #6
Common sense and state law determines what may be stored. Never store firearms, illicit drugs or drug paraphernalia, live animals,
perishables, liquids, explosives, flammable liquids and fuels, toxic materials, or other items that need a controlled environment.

Tip #7
Make sure all small engine motors have been drained of gasoline and oil, like lawn mowers before putting them in
a storage unit. Do not store any toxins or flammables such as paint, oil, or gasoline in your storage unit.

Tip #8
Do not store any food items. This will prevent any unwanted guests.

Tip #9
Use freestanding shelves to help organize your unit if needed.

Tip #10
Keep your more valuable items in the rear of the unit. Store items you'll need most often at the front of the unit.

Tip #11
If possible store your couches on end, and marry them together in a corner to save floor space. When stacking furniture use padding to
prevent scratching, remove legs and put all hardware in bags and mark accordingly. Stack chairs seat to seat. Cover couches and chairs with
heavy-duty polyethylene covers to keep them clean.

Tip #12
Store mattresses and box springs on long edges. Protect with polyethylene covers and elevate off the floor. Use two or three 2’x 4's cut to one-
foot lengths. Cover mattresses with heavy-duty polyethylene covers to keep them clean.

Tip #13
Treat wood surfaces before storing, and cover.

Tip #14
Place mirrors and artwork in special mirror pack boxes. Store the boxes on edge.

Tip #15
Clean and completely dry your appliances before you put them in the storage unit.

Tip #16
Always put heavy boxes on the bottom and lighter ones on top to prevent crushing. Do not put boxes directly on the floor, use plywood, 2’x 4’
boards, or pallets to keep your items off the floor of the storage unit. This will allow for good airflow under and around the boxes.

Tip #17
Use a large trash can to store shovels, hoes and rakes.

Tip #18
Be sure to check your unit once a month.

Tip #19
Be aware of your surroundings when you are in your unit.  If you see a potential problem or anything suspicious alert the manager.
